A major train accident has taken place in West Bengal. In New Jalpaiguri, a freight train coming at high speed hit the Kanchenjunga Express train from behind. The Kanchenjunga Express going to Sealdah met with an accident near Rangpanir station after crossing Siliguri. In this accident, the three bogies at the rear of the train were badly damaged. It is being told that so far 5 passengers have also died in the accident.
Train bogies jumped several feet in the air
According to information received from the railways, two passenger bogies and one parcel bogie have been damaged in the accident. All government and private hospitals at the site of the accident have been put on alert. Due to the collision, the bogies of the train jumped several feet in the air, after which there was a lot of commotion at the site of the accident.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has expressed grief over the accident. He wrote on his social media handle X, an unfortunate accident has happened in the NFR zone. Rescue work is going on on a war footing. Railways, NDRF and SDRF are working together. The injured are being taken to the hospital. Senior officials have reached the spot.
Divisional Railway Manager, North Frontier Railway, Katihar Division said that there are unconfirmed reports of some people being injured in the accident which occurred around 9 am.
