In view of the current scorching heat situation, the Railway Board will provide ‘insulated’ water bottles of two liter capacity to the employees engaged in maintenance of tracks in all its zones and production units. Water kept in an ‘insulated’ bottle remains cold or hot for a certain period.
“Keeping in view the heat conditions across the country, the Directorate of Civil Engineering has reiterated the instructions regarding provision of water bottles to eligible categories of employees,” the Railway Board said in a letter written to all zones and production units. have requested. The water bottle should be of two liter capacity. The bottle should be ‘insulated’ so that the water in it can remain cold for five to six hours.

All India Railway Track Maintainers Union (AIRTU) has welcomed this decision. He, however, said that the letter was issued on April 9 but the distribution of water bottles has not started yet. Satish Yadav, general secretary, AIRTU, Western Railway, said, “I request the concerned authorities to start providing good quality water bottles as soon as possible as the summer situation is getting worse day by day. He said that the Railways used to provide these water bottles every year at the beginning of summer. However, this practice was stopped from 2018. “Now, after a gap of six years, it has started once again which is good for us,” Yadav said.
