New Delhi. Earlier, there was severe heat. People troubled by the scorching heat were waiting for the monsoon rains. Now monsoon rains have become a cause of trouble for people in many states. Floods in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have affected millions of people. Whereas, people are facing problems due to waterlogging at many places including Gujarat due to rain. Amidst all this, the Meteorological Department has once again issued an alert about rain.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain in Assam and Uttarakhand. A red alert has been issued for both the states. There is an orange alert for heavy rain in UP, Bihar, eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh, Himalayan areas of West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and the Northeast. Whereas, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, central areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
According to the latest weather forecast, light to moderate rain is expected in Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Gangetic plains of West Bengal, Vidarbha in Maharashtra, Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat. Light rain can also be seen in Rayalaseema and Marathwada. This weather forecast for all the above mentioned places is for the next 4 to 6 days. In Manipur, the government has even closed schools and colleges in view of the heavy rains. The Meteorological Department had already predicted that this time there will be heavy monsoon rains in the country. The reason for this is the effect of La Nina. In La Nina, apart from the land, the sea also becomes hot. In such a situation, a lot of clouds are formed and this leads to good rain. Good rains bring relief to the farmers who grow paddy, but floods also lead to displacement of common people in many places. The same scene of displacement is seen in Assam and Arunachal. More than 16 lakh people in Assam and around 60,000 people in Arunachal Pradesh are facing difficulties due to floods.
