The Meteorological Department has predicted that light to heavy rains may occur at places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, UP and eastern Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till August 20. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains may occur in eastern India i.e. Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha. There is also a possibility of rain in Maharashtra and Goa. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of very heavy rains in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Rains are also expected at many places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

According to the Meteorological Department, clouds may also burst in many places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. A warning has been issued in this regard. The Meteorological Department says that due to the formation of a low pressure area over the North-West Bay of Bengal and West Bengal and its further intensification, moderate to very heavy rains are going to be seen in all the states. The Meteorological Department had earlier predicted heavy to very heavy rains in all the states of the country for 7 days. At the same time, there is news that due to the cracking of the mountain, the traffic on the Badrinath Highway in Uttarakhand had to be closed for some time on Friday. A landslide also occurred on the Mata Vaishno Devi road in Jammu and Kashmir. No pilgrim was injured in this.

The Meteorological Department has already said that by the end of September this year, the country will receive more than average rainfall. Earlier, till 2023, there was less rainfall in the monsoon season. The reason for this was the effect of El Nino. Whereas, this time there is the effect of La Nina. In the La Nina effect, the sea surface also heats up like the land. This leads to more rainfall. Whereas, in El Nino, the sea surface is less hot than the land and due to this less rainfall is seen.
