Raipur. In Chhattisgarh, the carelessness of the drivers while participating in religious and marriage events is causing mourning. During the return of processions in Ambikapur, three people, including two children, died due to negligence of the bus driver or in Nuapada, Odisha, six people, including a couple from Mahasamund, died due to the car crashing into a tree. A fortnight ago, six women devotees who were going from Durg-Bhilai to Rajim’s Punni Mela to take a bath had died.
In the said case also poor road management and driver’s negligence were identified as the main reasons. Videos from the scene showed that a car had safely moved on the same road before the accident. In the midst of these instances, three youths returning from the Sirpur fair in Mahasamund on the same motorbike entered the trailer uncontrollably from behind and died on the spot on Wednesday morning. It is clear that after consuming alcohol in festivals, the drivers are causing mourning.
Professional drivers are saving their lives at the last moment, but the homes of those who rely on them are being destroyed. To solve this problem, there is a need to be active and strict at the administrative as well as social level. Police and administration will have to ensure that action is taken against those who drive under the influence of alcohol. For this, the activity has to be increased at night.
Uncontrolled vehicles will have to be confiscated. Along with canceling the license of such drivers, punishment will have to be ensured by imposing a fine. Social awareness and activism is needed more than administrative action. People will have to refuse to sit on such vehicles whose drivers are in a drunken state. With the improvement in road conditions, the speed of vehicles is increasing.
With good roads, fuel consumption is also reduced along with saving time. Vehicles can be comfortably driven at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour on good roads, but this facility should not become a knife in the hand of a monkey. The speed of vehicles is stopping the pace of life. Those who commit such mistakes should also be introduced to the families who have lost their loved ones in accidents.
Children have become orphans. This loss cannot be covered by any sum insured or government compensation. It is necessary that the society and the government should take the matter sensitively, so that the heart-wrenching incidents of festivals turning into mourning are stopped.
