Jaipur. The Congress government of Rajasthan is once again upset with the BJP. CM Ashok Gehlot is doing day and night one. This problem of Ashok Gehlot, who is meeting on the meeting, has increased due to the upcoming elections to the Rajya Sabha. Election of 4 seats of Rajya Sabha is to be held from Rajasthan. Forms can be filed till May 31. Congress has MLAs winning 3 out of these 4 seats. Whereas, according to mathematics, BJP can win 1 seat, but it has decided to field candidates on 2 seats. This has increased Gehlot’s headache. They are confused in the numbers game. ‘Number 6’ has made him sleepy.
Gehlot has a majority government. Despite this, he is worried about sending three Congress candidates to the Rajya Sabha. On Monday, Gehlot met 12 independent MLAs and took a promise of their support for this. On Tuesday, he also held a meeting with two CPM MLAs. Earlier, BJP leader Gulab Chand Kataria and Deputy Leader of the Legislative Assembly Rajendra Rathod had announced that their party would field two candidates. Rathod has said that there is every possibility of getting support from the MLAs of the Congress camp to get him another candidate. This statement has increased Gehlot’s concern.
Talking about maths, Congress has 108 MLAs in the 200-member assembly. It also has the support of 13 independents, 2 from Tribal Party, 2 from CPM and 1 MLA from Rashtriya Lok Dal. That is, Congress has 126 votes. At the same time, BJP has 73 MLAs and ally Rashtriya Loktantrik Party has 3 MLAs. That means he has 76 votes. Congress needs 123 votes to win 3 candidates. On the other hand, if BJP fields 2 candidates, then it will need 82 votes to win them. In such a situation, Gehlot’s concern is that if the 6 MLAs with him cross-voting, then a year before the elections, he will be in big trouble.
