Internet services have been temporarily suspended in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur to maintain law and order. An order in this regard was issued from the office of the Divisional Commissioner on Tuesday. It said that on the basis of the request of the District Magistrate, internet is being shut down in Jodhpur district from 1 am on Tuesday. According to the official, these restrictions will continue till further orders. The special thing is that in April, communal violence had erupted in Karauli.
According to the government order, ‘2G/3G/4G/Data (Mobile Internet), Bulk SMS/MMS/Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and the entire District Jodhpur (including Jodhpur Commissionerate area) from 1.00 HJ on 03.05.2022 till further orders. Other social media services are temporarily suspended.
It has been told in the order that the Collector and District Magistrate had informed that ‘a serious challenge has arisen to law and peace and order in the Jodhpur district area. In the said situation, there is a need to take precautionary emergency steps to maintain public order.
Violence broke out during a rally taken out on Hindu New Year in Karauli. After this curfew was imposed in the area and tight security was put in place. Even during that time the authorities had decided to suspend internet services and 600 policemen were deployed. About two dozen people were injured in the violence.
