Atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh are not new. Such news keep coming often, but this time Hindus are being attacked as part of a conspiracy. There is a conspiracy to eliminate Hindus from Bangladesh and the excuse being made is the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina. Since most of the Hindu population in Bangladesh are supporters of Sheikh Hasina’s party, because Sheikh Hasina is against fundamentalism, talks about giving equal rights to Hindus, the fundamentalists do not like this. That is why as soon as Sheikh Hasina left the country, the fundamentalists started targeting Hindus selectively. The pictures of the massacre of Hindus in Bangladesh shocked the whole world, the onlookers got goosebumps. Protests were held all over the world against this massacre of Hindus. Hindus demonstrated in Washington, Toronto, Montreal, London and many other cities demanding justice. For the first time, angry Hindus of Bangladesh united and took to the streets in lakhs. Even at this time, thousands of protesters are sitting on the streets of Dhaka. All of them are hurt by the atrocities committed on Hindus, they are demanding justice, demanding the arrest of the criminals. In Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Barishal, Mymensingh, Narayanganj and Jessore, houses, shops and temples of innocent Hindus were attacked, these people were forced to take to the streets to protest against it.
Retired Brigadier General Mohammad Sakhawat Hussain, Home Affairs Advisor in the interim government of Bangladesh, apologized to the Hindus with folded hands. He said that the Bangladesh government, police, administration and army failed to protect the Hindus, for which he apologizes to the Hindus. Sakhawat Hussain said that the government will try its best to stop the attacks on Hindus because this has tarnished the image of Bangladesh all over the world. Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government, reached the famous Dhakeshwari temple of Dhaka on Tuesday and talked to Hindu leaders. Meanwhile, Hindus have also declared that Bangladesh is also their country, Hindus have also made sacrifices for this country, so Hindus will not run away in fear of Islamic fundamentalists, will not leave the country, will fight for their rights or will die in Bangladesh itself. It is a matter of relief that the police in Bangladesh has now returned to work. The policemen who had fled due to mob attacks on the police station have returned to duty to help the army. But the biggest question in the minds of Bangladeshi Hindus is that how did Sheikh Hasina accept defeat so quickly? Why did she not counter her opponents?
I spoke to some experts from Bangladesh. They told me that the student movement was taken over by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jamaat-e-Islami. Anti-Hasina YouTubers from foreign countries started a campaign of false information so fast that the matter got out of hand. The Hasina government could not understand how to handle it. Secondly, these experts told me that the biggest mistake Hasina made was that she considered the Army Chief as her own and trusted him completely. On Sunday, a day before Hasina resigned, the Awami League had planned to gather 25 lakh people in Dhaka. This could have been a show of strength and would have proved Sheikh Hasina to be the ‘Iron Lady’ once again. But on Friday, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman reached the PM House. He advised Hasina not to call her supporters from other cities to Dhaka. The Army Chief argued that if you call your supporters, the army will not be able to stop the people of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. He said that right now I have stopped those people from entering the city. But the same experts say that the Army Chief double-crossed Sheikh Hasina. When Sheikh Hasina believed him and cancelled her rally, then the army allowed the people of Jamaat-e-Islami to enter the city.
On Monday morning, the Army Chief informed Hasina that thousands of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami people had entered the city from the back side of the airport. After a while, he again came to PM House and told Hasina that the sooner she leaves Dhaka, the better it will be for her. The Awami League people feel that the Army Chief betrayed their leader. He did exactly the opposite of what he said. That is why after the formation of the new government, everyone else was removed, but the Army Chief still remains in his place. (Rajat Sharma)
