Deep fakes and fake videos have also entered the Lok Sabha elections. A case has also been registered in Delhi and Delhi Police has reached Telangana. The Chief Minister of Telangana was called to Delhi for questioning. Revanth Reddy’s phone will also be examined. A Congress supporter has been arrested from Assam in this case. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed concern over the use of deep fakes in elections. Asked people to be careful. BJP delegation led by IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav met the Election Commission. Demanded action against those who spread this video. Congress leaders are now roaming around giving clarification in this matter. What actually happened was that Home Minister Amit Shah said in an election rally in Tamil Nadu that if the BJP government comes to power at the Center for the third time, wherever Muslim reservation is unconstitutionally implemented, it will be abolished. But his video was edited. The word ‘Muslim’ was removed and ‘Dalit tribal’ was added. That is, Amit Shah was shown saying that if the BJP government comes to power, it will immediately end the unconstitutionally implemented reservation for Dalits, backward classes and tribals. Since the voice was of Amit Shah, the editing was done so clearly that any listener would think that Amit Shah had said that the BJP government will end the reservation. This video went viral on many social media platforms. After this, BJP came into action, police action also took place, complaint was also made to the Election Commission, big leaders told its reality during the campaign but the question is, what is the connection of this video with Telangana? Since this video of Amit Shah was posted on X from the official handle of the state unit of Congress in Telangana, the Delhi Police team reached the Congress office in Hyderabad.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is also the President of the State Congress. Therefore, Delhi Police has sent a notice to Revanth Reddy for questioning. Apart from Revanth Reddy, notices have also been sent to Telangana Congress leaders Satish, Naveen, Shivashankar and Asma Tasleem. All these people have been asked to bring their mobiles and electronic gadgets with them. A case has been registered against them under sections of IT Act and attempting to disturb social harmony and spread hatred in the society. When Delhi Police served notice to Telangana Congress leaders, Revanth Reddy was at an election rally of Priyanka Gandhi in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. Revanth Reddy said that till now BJP was using only ED, CBI and Income Tax in the elections, but now the name of Delhi Police has also been added to this list. Revanth Reddy said that BJP is getting all this done due to fear of defeat in the elections.
On Tuesday, Amit Shah, while addressing a press conference in Guwahati, alleged that Congress had a hand in making the failed video of his speech. He said that strict action will be taken against those who committed this act. On the other hand, while addressing rallies in Satara in Maharashtra and Bagalkot in Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned the people that a huge conspiracy is being worked on to mislead people by making fake videos through Artificial Intelligence and Deepfake. Disharmony should be promoted in the society. Modi said that in the era of Artificial Intelligence and social media, there is a need to be cautious of those who are misusing it, who are trying to instigate and set the society on fire. Modi said that the police is taking strict action against those who commit such acts but he hopes that the Election Commission will also take this matter seriously.
In the age of technology, it is difficult to differentiate between real and fake. Same leader, same voice, same gestures, but the words are fake. If this happens in films and TV serials, then it is understandable, but when during elections, leaders are shown saying things which they have not said, then it will become very difficult. Nowadays there is a mobile in every hand. Everyone has many social media apps like WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube on their phones. A fake video reaches millions of people within a few seconds and people consider it to be true and forward it. That’s why this is a terrible game. These are dangerous games from the point of view of democracy. Since people have no way of knowing the authenticity of the video, the least you can do is not to forward any video without thinking, otherwise you can get into trouble. Because IT Acts are very strict. If you post or forward any wrong video, you can go to jail. That is why Modi said to be careful. As far as the leaders of the opposition parties are concerned, it became clear that the fake video of Amit Shah was deliberately spread as part of a well-planned strategy because as soon as the video went viral, from Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Congress, Samajwadi Party Party and RJD leaders started saying in rallies that BJP has made preparations to end the reservation of Dalits, backward classes and tribals. If Modi becomes Prime Minister for the third time then reservation will end.
Rahul Gandhi said in a rally in Patan, Gujarat that BJP leaders say that they will not end reservation at any cost, but the reality is that the people of BJP want to end the Constitution and reservation, that is why they are ending government jobs. They are promoting privatization because reservation is not applicable in the private sector. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav said in the rallies of Agra and Etah that the people of BJP are strongly opposed to reservation. At the behest of the Sangh, they are gradually ending reservation. Lalu Prasad Yadav, who came to campaign for his daughter Rohini Acharya in Saran, Bihar, also said that now the fight is not to form the government, but to save the Constitution and reservation. Lalu said that all the parties have gathered to save the Constitution and together they will defeat BJP. After this, Lalu, while humming a Bhojpuri song in his familiar style, said that the public will give such a push to BJP that it will oust from power.
Prime Minister Modi responded to the allegations of leaders of opposition parties. Modi said in the rally in Solapur, Maharashtra that not only that, even Baba Saheb Ambedkar cannot abolish reservation now. Therefore, there is no need to believe the lies that the leaders of the opposition parties are spreading. Modi said that the people of Congress and the opposition alliance are clearly seeing their defeat, that is why they are upset and now they are busy spreading lies among the people and saying that the Modi government will end the reservation. Modi said that when As long as I am alive I will not let reservation end. In this election, Congress is trying to somehow impress upon BJP that Modi and his party are anti-reservation. Amit Shah’s fake video, Rahul and Lalu’s statements are part of this well thought out policy. But nowadays people are quite aware. Everyone understands what doctored videos are and how they are prepared. People also know that as far as reservation is concerned, in today’s times who will talk about removing it? Neither can anyone remove reservation, nor can anyone think about it and this is not the last election. BJP has to contest further elections also. Governments have to be formed in future too. The party has to be run further also. That is why this narrative that Modi wants to end reservation is completely useless. This thing was started by Lalu Yadav. Rahul Gandhi also tried to spread the same thing very cleverly. Linked this to the slogan of crossing 400. It was said that Modi wants 400 seats so that reservation can be abolished. No one will believe this.
The first thing is that Modi has to stay here. We have to live in this country, we have to contest elections here. And secondly, Modi’s track record of last 23 years regarding OBC, Dalit, SC-ST is very clear. Now Modi has hit back by saying that Congress wants to give reservation to Muslims by cutting the quota of OBC. Such allegations and counter-allegations continue to be made in the election field. There is also debate. But making fake videos and misleading people is a crime. That is why strict action should be taken against those who do this. Not only should action be taken against those who do this, it should also be delved into who made such a video and who spread the lie? Although I believe that ‘this is public, everyone knows’.
