Respect for women, self-respect of mothers and sisters has become a big issue in the Lok Sabha elections. On Wednesday, the Election Commission sent show cause notices to Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet and BJP leader Dilip Ghosh over their objectionable comments made about Kangana Ranaut and Mamata Banerjee respectively. Here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to Rekha Patra, a victim of Sheikh Shahjahan’s atrocities in Sandeshkhali. BJP has given ticket to Rekha Patra from Basirhat. Modi said that Rekha Patra is the embodiment of Shakti. By fielding her in the election, BJP has proved its commitment towards protecting the dignity of women. Modi said that when the truth of Sandeshkhali came to light, the country came to know how much atrocities were committed against mothers and sisters in West Bengal. In ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ on Monday itself, I had said that BJP’s candidate from Basirhat, Rekha Patra, will become a symbol of the fight against oppression of women, respect for mothers and sisters will be a big issue for BJP not only in Bengal but in the entire country. On Tuesday, the Prime Minister gave the same message while talking to Rekha Patra over phone. The whole country knows the hair-raising stories of the atrocities committed by Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali, but the one who raised her voice against this atrocities, the first one who showed the courage to file a police complaint against Sheikh Shahjahan, was an ordinary woman, Rekha. Prime Minister Modi made Patra the BJP candidate from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat from the same area. Rekha Patra never even contested Panchayat elections, she is a housewife, poor and not even educated. They do not have the resources to contest elections, but Modi has fielded them in the Lok Sabha elections. Therefore now the entire party is contesting the election of Rekha Patra.
Modi himself spoke to Rekha Patra. Modi asked whether he was facing any problem after getting the ticket? Have women found courage in Sandeshkhali? Are they ready to fight for the honor of their mothers and sisters? Rekha told Modi that the situation was so bad that she had never voted in any election after 2011. Modi was also surprised to hear this. He said that he will appeal to the Election Commission and he has full confidence that the Election Commission will look into it and make such arrangements that people in West Bengal can vote as per their wish without any fear or favour. Modi assured Rekha Patra that she should not worry about anything, the people of Bengal are with her, the blessings of her mothers and sisters are with her and the entire party is with her. Rekha Patra said a big thing to Modi. He told that the women of Sandeshkhali are scared. There are many women who are not speaking openly in their favor due to fear of family safety. Or there are some women who are speaking against the Trinamool Congress due to fear of their goons, but they do not feel bad about it. Rekha Patra said that in future she will fight to get justice for the women who are opposing her today.
I am surprised to hear Rekha Patra saying that people in Sandeshkhali do not have the freedom to vote since 2011, their votes are stolen, this is more sad because Mamata Banerjee talked about “Maa Manti and Manush”. By doing this, the Left was ousted from power in West Bengal. But now during Mamata’s rule, the news of atrocities against mothers and daughters and the reality of land occupation has come to light, the message has been sent that neither mother, soil nor human beings are safe in Bengal. The way Mamata tried her best to save Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali till the last moment, it gave an opportunity to BJP and BJP made Sandeshkhali a big issue. People of Bengal are worshipers of Shakti, devotees of Maa Kali, they can tolerate anything but cannot tolerate insult to Mother Shakti. That is why Modi has increased the difficulty for Mamata Banerjee by giving ticket to Rekha Patra, who raised voice against atrocities on mothers and sisters. Rekha Patra is contesting the elections from Basirhat, but its impact will be on the politics of entire Bengal as well as the country. Mamta Banerjee also knows that atrocities against mothers and sisters can prove costly for the party. Therefore, Trinamool Congress is counter-attacking on this issue.
On Tuesday, Dilip Ghosh made a mistake and Trinamool Congress made it a big issue. Dilip Ghosh said unnecessary and derogatory things about Mamata Banerjee. Actually, BJP has fielded Dilip Ghosh from Bardhaman-Durgapur seat. Kirti Azad is the Trinamool Congress candidate. Dilip Ghosh said that Kirti Azad is an outsider. Since Trinamool Congress has given the slogan ‘Bengal wants its daughter’, the slogan should be, ‘Bengal wants its nephew’. Till now it was fine but after this Dilip Ghosh said such a thing which created a controversy. Dilip Ghosh said that when Mamata goes to Goa, she calls herself the daughter of Goa, when she goes to Tripura, she calls herself the daughter of Tripura, she should decide who her father is. What Dilip Ghosh said is wrong. Not only Mamata Banerjee, such comments should not be made about any woman or any person. In politics, there are attacks on each other during elections, but whether it is personal or questions are raised on someone’s family, it is not right. Dilip Ghosh is an old, grassroots leader. Presently he is the National Vice President of BJP, and has been the President of BJP in Bengal. Therefore, when such a big leader says something indecent, there is concern.
It is possible that Dilip Ghosh may apologize for his comment, but by making this mistake, he has given an opportunity to the Trinamool Congress, which is badly cornered on the issue of respect for women, to counterattack. Now Congress, stuck over Supriya Shrinet’s comment about Kangana, will also cite Dilip Ghosh’s statement in its defence. Comment on Kangana will prove costly for Supriya. Anyway, Supriya Shrinet teaches morality lessons to everyone every day, attacks the media in TV debates, sometimes talks about her being a woman, but Supriya is not a person, she is the head of the social media cell of Congress. That is why its heat will reach the Congress leadership. BJP leaders Bansuri Swaraj and Navneet Rana have asked that although Priyanka Gandhi speaks a lot on insulting women, gives the slogan ‘I am a girl, I can fight’, but she is still silent on the indecent comments made about Kangana. Are. Rahul Gandhi also runs a love shop but he is also silent on this kind of indecency against a professional woman. Congress cannot escape by just saying that someone posted this from Supriya’s accounts. How can anyone post another post from the handle of the leader who is in charge of the social media cell without her permission? Therefore, when this thing comes out, it will go far. (Rajat Sharma)
