new Delhi . Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’, which tells the story of the exodus of Kashmir Pandits, is still in political turmoil and every party is trying to tell that it has always been sympathetic to the displaced Kashmiri Pandits. Since the release of the film, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its supporters have been targeting the Congress for the plight of Kashmiri Pandits.
The Congress hit back at the BJP, saying it cannot hide its failure under the guise of a film.
Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel says he has seen the film and it shows the incomplete truth. He says that BJP is making it an issue.
The Congress has rejected the allegation that it has vague views on the issue of Kashmiri Pandits. Congress claims that the party has done most of the work for the welfare of Kashmiri Pandits and the party is not running away from the issue.
Congress has said that it shares the grief of Kashmiri Pandits. The party said that during the time of Indira Gandhi, the highest importance was given to Kashmiri Pandits in the Prime Minister’s Office. On any decision taken by the party on the issue of Kashmir, the opinion of people like Makhan Lal Fotedar was given importance till the last.
Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala said, it was Rajiv Gandhi who had gheraoed the Parliament during the exodus and urged the government to help the victims but no one listened. He was in trouble as his family had come from there. Whose government was at the center at that time? Even VP Singh was in power with the support of BJP.
Surjewala said, during the 10-year tenure of the United Progressive Alliance government from 2004 to 2014, 4,241 terrorists were killed. During that period, 3,000 jobs were given to Kashmiri Pandits as PM package, 5,911 transit houses were built whereas in the eight years of BJP rule only 520 jobs were given and 100 transit houses were built. The BJP is only scratching old wounds but not doing anything.
The Congress alleged that Prime Minister August 2, 2021
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was raising the issue for political gains but not doing anything. The issue of Kashmiri Pandits has heated up since the release of the film and it has come into the limelight after the Prime Minister spoke about it.
On March 15, the Prime Minister had said that there is a need to make such films so that people can know the truth.
He said that since a very long time an attempt is being made to hide the truth from the country and there is a need to make films like ‘The Kashmir Files’ to bring out the truth in front of the people.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s statement, a BJP MP said, “The truth should be brought before the country in the right form.” Truth has won in Kashmir Files. Another MP said that the Prime Minister while appreciating the film appealed to all party MPs to watch it.
It is also learned that the Prime Minister has said that it was only those who rumbled for freedom of expression that tried to suppress the truth.
A BJP MP said, “Those carrying the torch of freedom of expression have started a campaign to defame the film.” The whole ecosystem is active against the person trying to present the truth. Instead of analyzing the film, they are trying to stop people from watching the film.
