Raksha Bandhan is not celebrated in this village of UP: In this village of UP, no brother ties Rakhi to his sister, you will be surprised to know the reason for not celebrating Raksha Bandhan

New Delhi. The festival of Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm across the country today. Sisters wait for this day throughout the year when they tie a Raksha Sutra on their brother’s wrist. But do you know that there is a place in UP where the festival of Raksha Bandhan is not celebrated. Here no brother gets a Rakhi tied by his sister and you will be surprised to know the reason for this. There is a village named Benipur Chak in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. No one celebrates the festival of Raksha Bandhan in this village.

The reason behind this is the fear that has been going on in the minds of people for generations that the sister may ask for something that the brother will regret, so for many generations no brother has tied a Rakhi to his sister here. According to the report of India TV, the elderly people of Benipur Chak village of Sambhal tell the very old reason for not celebrating Rakshabandhan festival and say that our ancestors used to live in Semri village of Aligarh. People of Thakur and Yadav caste lived in the village, in which the number of Yadav families was less and the number of Thakur families was more. There was a lot of love and harmony between both the castes.

Girls of Yadav family used to tie Rakhi to boys of Thakur family and girls of Thakur family used to tie Rakhi to boys of Yadav family. Once on the day of Rakshabandhan, a girl of Yadav family tied Rakhi to the head of Thakur caste and asked for a buffalo in gift. Next year, a girl of Thakur family tied Rakhi to Yadav caste and asked for the whole village. After this, people of Yadav caste left that village and settled in Benipur Chak village of Sambhal. Even after many generations have passed since then, the festival of Rakshabandhan is not celebrated among the people of Yadav caste settled here.
