Raksha Khadse’s entry into politics came after a deep personal shock when her husband Nikhil Khadse committed suicide by shooting himself in 2013. The reason for Nikhil Khadse’s suicide is said to be his defeat in the Legislative Council elections in 2011. In that election, NCP’s Manish Jain defeated Eknath Khadse’s son Nikhil. Raksha entered the electoral fray after her husband’s death.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Raksha won a big victory from the Raver Lok Sabha seat and became the youngest Lok Sabha MP at the age of 26. Before that, she had been the Sarpanch of Kothli Gram Panchayat. In 2013, Raksha Khadse was elected to the Zila Parishad seat that fell vacant after her husband’s death. Raksha Khadse became an MP for the first time at the age of just 26. Now, at the age of 37, she has joined the list of the youngest ministers of the Modi government by becoming a Union Minister. Raksha Khadse was born on 13 May 1987 in Khetia, Madhya Pradesh and is married to Nikhil Khadse, son of veteran Maharashtra leader Eknath Khadse. Raksha Khadse has two children and their names are Gurunath Khadse, Krishika Khadse.
