Rampur. Ghanshyam Lodhi, who wrote the story of BJP’s victory in the stronghold of SP leader Azam Khan, has once been close to Azam. He is also considered as the meteorologist of the politics of Rampur. Lodhi was always close to the party in which he saw his own victory and growth. Ghanshyam Lodhi, who was the election in-charge for Azam Khan, has now slammed Asim Raja, another close friend of Azam, in the Lok Sabha by-election and he has emerged as a giant killer in Rampur, giving a big blow to Azam’s politics.
Ghanshyam Lodhi, who started politics from BJP, was earlier close to Lodh leader Kalyan Singh. In 1999, he switched from BJP to BSP. Then in 2004 joined Kalyan Singh’s National Revolution Party. Kalyan Singh had become close to the SP at that time. As a result, Ghanshyam Lodhi also became MLC from Bareilly-Rampur Legislative Council seat. Before the end of the term of MLC, he again went to the BSP and contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2009. Then in 2011, Lodhi joined the SP. In 2012, Lodhi brought Ghanshyam to the SP’s court and then became close to Azam in 2014. In 2016, Ghanshyam Lodhi again became MLC on SP ticket.
After this, Azam’s bad days started, then Ghanshyam Lodhi also shrugged off him. He was expelled from SP in 2022 due to anti-party activities. After that he again joined BJP. Seeing the large number of Lodhi voters, BJP had fielded Ghanshyam this time and he did the work of grounding Azam and SP’s politics in Rampur.
