Jaipur . On Friday, two plays were staged in Rang Rajasthan, a theater and folk festival organized by the Department of Art, Culture and Archeology and Rang Mastane Sanstha, Jaipur in collaboration with Jawahar Kala Kendra. “Maharathi” was staged at JKK’s Krishnayan at 3 pm and “Diary of a Maid” at 6 pm at Rangayan Stage.
The play is written by prolific playwright Vibhanshu Vaibhav. It is directed by Abhishek Mudgal, a young theater artist from Jaipur. In the play, the audience saw the injustice done to the son of Surya, Karna. How did the Pandavas deprive Karna of his skill? This play is based on those aspects of Mahabharata which remained hidden from the people. Seeing the dialogue between Krishna and Duryodhana, the audience felt Krishna’s anger. When Kunti goes to her son Karna, the audience could not hold back their tears after seeing that dialogue. In the end Kunti is shown accepting Karna as her son in front of the whole world.
