Udaipur, The series of sighting of rare insects, wildlife and vegetation continues in the Mewar-Wagad region, which is rich in natural beauty and biodiversity. In this series, a rare butterfly ‘Anomalous Nawab’ was seen in Sector 14 of the city on Sunday.


Butterfly expert of the state Mukesh Panwar told that Neha Manohar, an expert on environmental issues and doing research on butterflies in Sector 14, has seen this butterfly in her garden. He told that he saw this butterfly drinking juice from a fig fruit in his garden and clicked its photo. Panwar told that its scientific name is Charax Agrarius and its size in open wings is 9-10 cm. This butterfly usually completes its life cycle on the Kher tree and likes to drink juice of ripe fruits. It likes forests more but it is rare to see it in urban areas.
He told that he was the first one to study its life cycle in Sagwara. He told that generally in Rajasthan it is considered as Common Nawab, there is no mention of ‘Anomalous Nawab’ in old research papers. Only ‘Anomalous Nawab’ has been found in Rajasthan, Komal Nawab has never been seen in Rajasthan. He told that when Common Nawab is seen in closed wings, there is only one spot on the upper end of the wing, whereas ‘Anomalous Nawab’ has two spots.
Here, the country’s renowned butterfly expert Peter Smatic has also said that it is rare to see ‘Anomalous Nawab’ in the urban area of ​​Udaipur. He said that the Anomalus Nawab butterfly, which is found in most forest areas, is seen only in forest areas with less moisture than in forest areas with more moisture.
