The defending champions Chennai Super Kings started the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a win and opened their account in the points table. In the first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, CSK’s dominance was seen in both bowling and batting. In this match, Chennai Super Kings’ star all-round player Ravindra Jadeja also performed brilliantly with the bat, in which he played an unbeaten inning of 25 runs in 17 balls and returned to the pavilion unbeaten, leading the team to victory. With this, Jadeja also equaled a special record of Dhoni in IPL history.
Jadeja reached equal to Dhoni in this matter
In the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings had a target of 174 runs, after which at one time the team lost 4 wickets at the score of 110. From here, Ravindra Jadeja along with Shivam Dubey helped the team win by 6 wickets in just 18.4 overs. With this, Jadeja managed to equal Dhoni’s record in terms of remaining not out the most number of times in won matches in IPL history. So far in IPL, Dhoni has returned to the pavilion not out 27 times while chasing the target in winning matches. Jadeja has also managed to accomplish this feat 27 times. Dinesh Karthik is now at second place in this list, who has returned not out to the pavilion 22 times in successful run chases.
Jadeja is very economical with the ball
Ravindra Jadeja’s form with both bat and ball was seen in the first match of the 17th season of IPL in which he could not manage to take even a single wicket in 4 overs but spent only 21 runs. In the first match of the season for CSK, Mustafizur Rahman was amazing with the ball, taking 4 wickets while giving 29 runs in his 4 overs. Chennai Super Kings now have to play their second match this season against Gujarat Titans on March 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
