New Delhi. The former wicketkeeper of the Indian cricket team announced his retirement from the tournament after the Indian Premier League played last year. This veteran player, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, was made the batting coach of the team by the franchise. Now a big news related to him has come out. Former wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik was signed by Paarl Royals on Tuesday for the third season of SA20. He became the first Indian cricketer to join the South African T20 Cricket League starting from January 9 next year.
39-year-old Karthik, who played for a long time in IPL, retired from all forms of cricket in June this year. He has been appointed as mentor cum batting coach by IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore. Karthik, who played 180 matches in all three formats for India, said, “I have a lot of memories of playing in South Africa and going there. When this opportunity came, I could not refuse because it would be so special to come back to competitive cricket and win this incredible competition with the Royals.”
