TRAI has prepared a cheap recharge plan.

Crores of mobile users of the country are going to get the good news of cheap recharge plans once again. For this, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made full preparations. The telecom regulator has issued a consultation paper for this, in which suggestions have been sought from stakeholders related to the telecom industry regarding plans with only calling and SMS. Earlier this month, all telecom companies have increased their mobile tariffs by up to Rs 600. After TRAI seeks suggestions, new tariff plans may be introduced for the people.

TRAI has issued this consultation paper on Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation (TCPR) 2012. The government agency has sought feedback from stakeholders on this consultation paper. This consultation paper can bring good news for crores of mobile users of the country. In this consultation paper, bringing back voice and data recharge packs can be considered. Currently, the mobile plans of all telecom companies are focused on data, due to which those users have to suffer, who have to recharge mobile only for voice calling and SMS.

Proposal for issuing colour coding

Most bundled tariff plans of Jio, Airtel, Vi and even state-run telecom company BSNL offer SMS and OTT benefits along with voice and data. TRAI said in its consultation paper that there is a perception that many users are paying for services that they do not even need. TRAI has also proposed in its consultation paper to telecom operators to issue color coding of vouchers.

The telecom regulator has asked telecom companies in its consultation paper whether color coding in digital medium would be the right step? For this, stakeholders have been asked to give their response by August 16, 2024. After this, a counter response can be issued against it by August 23, 2024. Let us tell you that TRAI seeks opinion from stakeholders on all issues through consultation paper. However, this does not mean that these rules will be implemented. Any decision is taken only after considering it.
