Jaipur. After the rain in the capital Jaipur since morning, the weather department has issued a red alert in the afternoon. The rain that was going on intermittently in Jaipur since morning reached its peak in the afternoon. This led to a flood of water in the entire city. The roads became rivers. The entire Pink City was stuck in traffic jam due to two to three feet of water on the main roads of the city. There were heavy traffic jams at many places. Thousands of people became helpless due to two-wheelers and four-wheelers getting stuck in the rain.

The weather department had issued an alert of very heavy rain in Alwar and Bharatpur today. At the same time, a warning of heavy rain was issued in 14 districts including Jaipur. According to the forecast of the weather department, rain started in many areas including Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota and Alwar since morning. After that, it intensified as the day progressed. Waterlogging started increasing on the roads.

By two o’clock the rain became very heavy
After about 1 pm, the speed of rain started increasing in Jaipur. By 2 pm, the rain took a fierce form. Then due to the uncontrollable rain, the roads of Pink City started getting flooded with water. Due to the rain, various main roads including Sikar Road turned into rivers. After noon, the Meteorological Department issued a red alert for rain for Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur and Tonk districts.

Vehicles remained stuck in the water
Thankfully, today being a Sunday, there was less crowd as compared to other days. Due to all offices and schools being a holiday, there was less vehicular movement on the roads. Due to this, pedestrians got some relief. But due to the flood of water flowing on the roads, vehicles got stuck in the water. Traffic also came to a halt at many places due to the strong flow on the roads.

People were confined to their homes and shops
Many places in the city wall were flooded with water up to three to four feet. The river Dravyavati was in full flow. The low lying areas were completely submerged. Traffic was stopped there due to waterlogging in the underpasses. The drain near Madho Vilas in Brahmapuri also overflowed. Due to the rain, people were confined to their homes and shops.
