Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has appealed to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to use all channels to live Gurbani across the world from Golden Temple. He said that it is the need of the hour to reach Gurbani across the world. The government is ready to bear all the expenses related to this. On this demand of the CM, the SGPC said that the CM should pay attention to the government.
Releasing a video, CM Mann said- “This effort will go a long way in providing an opportunity to the devotees to have a glimpse of the Golden Temple and listen to Gurbani… We will be ready to discharge any duty assigned by the SGPC. are ready.”
Further Bhagwant Mann appealed to SGPC to show Gurbani from Golden Temple live through various mediums including satellite TV, radio, social media and mobile apps. It should not be that its reach should be limited to only one medium.
Responding to the Chief Minister’s appeal, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said in a statement that the committee is an elected representative body of the Sikh Panth. He said the state government “should not interfere in the affairs of the Guru’s house”. Dhami said- “The fields of government and religion are separate”.
Dhami further said that the Chief Minister “should not be involved in politics”. Instead, attention should be paid to the long pending demands of the SGPC.
This appeal of CM Mann is being seen against the Badal family. In fact, in today’s time, Gurbani is being broadcast by the channel ‘PTC’ associated with the Badal family. In the matter of broadcast, only he has the right. Be it a coincidence or something, PTC Chairman and Managing Director Ravindra Narayan has been arrested on Wednesday itself. A complaint of sexual harassment has been registered against him.
