Patna, Nov 8 (IANS) | Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, started from Monday with ‘Nahai-Khay’ in Bihar. On the occasion of Chhath, Ipsova (IPS Officers Wives Association) distributed soup, fruits and worship material among Chhathvratis on Monday.Association secretary Ratna Singh said that on the auspicious occasion of Chhath festival, fruits were distributed among Chhathvratis in the temple premises of Bihar Special Armed Police-5 complex for offering soup and worship.
He said that Chhath Mahaparv has started with ‘Nahay-Khay’ on Monday. He told that this festival is not only a religious ritual but it is also a festival of social and social harmony. In this festival all kinds of discrimination are eradicated.On this occasion present President of Ipsova, Bihar Sumita Singhal and former President Poonam Thakur, Secretary Ratna Singh, Joint Secretary Monika, Cultural Secretary Chetna, Treasurer Ekta and Renu Meena, Alka Jha and Khushboo Singh were also present.
It is noteworthy that many social works have been done by Ipsova.Chhath, a four-day long festival of folk faith, started with ‘Nahay-Khay’ in the cities, villages and towns of the state including Bihar’s capital Patna.On the second day of this great festival which lasts for four days, i.e. on Tuesday, devotees will spend the whole day fasting after sunset. With this, the Nirjala fast of 36 hours will start. On the third day of the festival, on Wednesday, Chhathvrati will offer arghya to the setting sun in the evening, after that on Thursday, only after offering arghya to the rising sun, the fast of the devotees will end.
