Mumbai: The flyovers of the roads of Mumbai will soon be seen painted in a new color. Paintings of famous local places and symbols representing the special identity of that area will be painted on the flyover of the city. Due to which people will get to see new views with the best pictures while traveling on the roads. The flyovers will become colorful after being painted in the new colour, where the image of the paintings will become attractive and attractive under the colorful flashing light.
In the initial days, leopards, tigers and penguins will be painted on the first flyover near Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan in Byculla and the zoo (Byculla Zoo) near the arterial Dr B A Ambedkar Road, while the wild animals near Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali and There will be green gardens. Work will be done to paint the flyover near the sea with pictures of water and waves. The purpose of which is to give tourists and residents an experience of the area they are passing through.
The proposal for theme-based painting was put up recently in the meeting of the Public Standing Committee, in which it was proposed that 33 bridges in the city be beautified at a cost of over Rs 6 crore. At the same time, a target has been set to complete this work in 18 months including monsoon. It is noteworthy that 16 companies had participated in the tender issued by the Municipal Corporation. Although Sumati Solutions Pvt. Considering Ltd. to be eligible for tender, the officials mentioned the works done by Sumati under Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation. Keeping this in mind Sumati Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has been decided to tender.
There are a total of more than 300 flyovers in the city, currently selected flyovers will be painted on the basis of theme. Along with this, some other flyovers are being considered on Princess Street (Marine Drive), Gloria Church at Byculla, Parel TT Bridge, Mahalaxmi Bridge, Lower Parel Bridge and Hindmata Bridge. The program’s chief bridge engineer Satish Thosar said that the theme based drawings would be painted in a phased manner. Right now only those flyovers which are in popular places of the city will be painted.
At the same time, supporting the decision, Congress leader Ravi Raja said that it is a good step. The area below the flyover should not only be painted, but they should also be revamped in such a way that the local people can use it as a recreational space. The Matunga flyover is a very good example of how the space beneath the flyover can be used for the benefit of the community. Many locals use the area built under the flyover for walkways and other activities.
