An old man reached a hospital in Ballia in Uttar Pradesh with his wife on a handcart. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has ordered an inquiry into the matter after its video became a topic of discussion on social media. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. He told that this incident is from Andaur village of the district. In a related video, Sakul Prajapati of Andaur village is seen taking his ailing wife Jogni (55) on a handcart to the hospital.
Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav has raised question marks on the medical system of the state by tweeting on this matter. Chief Medical Officer Neeraj Pandey said on Tuesday that Pathak has ordered the Director General (Medical and Health) to investigate the matter.
When asked about this, Sakul Prajapati said that on March 28, when he could not find any means to take his wife to the hospital, he took her on a handcart to Chiklahar Health Center, which is three kilometers away from his house. Sakul told that the doctors referred his wife to the district hospital after giving some medicines, after which he left his wife on a handcart in Piaria village and went home to get clothes and money and then took the wife to the hospital by tempo.
Police said that his wife died during treatment at the hospital. Sakul claimed that his wife died around 11 pm and the hospital did not provide an ambulance to take the body home, following which he called for a private ambulance for Rs 1,100.
