The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday announced the names of all its candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. The Aam Aadmi Party has fielded national spokesperson Raghav Chadha and cricketer Harbhajan Singh. AAP has also fielded industrialist Ashok Mittal as its candidate. Journey from Auto Dealership to Parliament: In 1961, Ashok Mittal’s father Baldev Raj Mittal opened a sweet shop and the name of this shop was also Lovely Sweet House. It is said that Ashok’s father had opened a sweet shop by taking a loan of Rs 500. Ashok Mittal also has two brothers and later both the brothers also joined the sweet business. Gradually the sweet shop became quite famous. During his studies, Ashok also started helping his father in his business.
In 1991, Ashok Mittal stepped into the automobile sector apart from the sweets business and took the dealership of Bajaj Company. The business prospered and going a step ahead, Ashok took over the dealership of Maruti Suzuki in 1996. Gradually, Ashok continued to get success in business and then in 2001, Ashok stepped into the field of education. In 2001 Mittal established a college in Phagwara, Punjab and named the college as Lovely Professional College.
In 2005, Ashok Mittal’s Lovely College got the status of University and its name was Lovely Professional University.
