Manoj Shukla, ADJ of Sultanpur in UP has been suspended. Manoj Shukla came into the limelight when he lay down in front of JCB to save his ancestral land. The Allahabad High Court has decided to suspend him.
According to the information received, the Allahabad High Court has suspended Additional District Judge (ADJ) of Sultanpur District Court Manoj Kumar Shukla for lying down in front of a bulldozer. According to the order, taking cognizance of the conduct of ADJ Shukla, the Administrative Committee of the High Court has decided to suspend him. This order has been sent to Sultanpur District Court.
ADJ Shukla is a resident of Chhapia Shukla village in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh. His land was acquired by the district administration for the construction of Hariya-Rajwaha Saryu Canal. This canal is part of the Saryu Canal National Project, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December last year.
This land is in the name of ADJ Shukla’s father. It is being told that the Irrigation Department of the state had written a letter to the district administration seeking assistance in land acquisition for the project. After the acquisition, the administration sent letters to all the landowners and the construction work started shortly after.
Let us inform that ADJ Shukla was lying on the ground without eating or drinking anything in front of the district administration team all night. Then he said- “I am a judicial officer, this is my ancestral land. Our land is being encroached upon, this work is wrong. Land acquisition is against the rules.”
Following the incident, the district magistrate of Basti sent a report to the state government, which forwarded it to the Allahabad High Court. On which suspension action was taken.
SP chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had targeted the Yogi government by tweeting about this incident. He had said that if this can happen to a judicial officer, then imagine what can happen to the general public.
