A 57-year-old Tehsil Clerk (Naib Nazir) died on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh. In the case of the death of the deceased clerk, the SDM was accused of beating, after which a case has been registered against the SDM. The relatives of deceased clerk Sunil Kumar Sharma had alleged that Sharma died on March 30 after being beaten up by Lalganj (Pratapgarh) SDM Gyanendra Vikram Singh and some others.
After the death of Tehsil Clerk Sunil Kumar Sharma, a large number of government employees protested at the hospital on Saturday night. In which he talked about the arrest of SDM Gyanendra Vikram Singh and compensation to the relatives of the deceased. At the same time, the police handed over the body of Sunil Kumar Sharma to the family after the postmortem. Police said Vikram Singh was removed from office and attached to the district magistrate’s office, but he has not been arrested so far.
Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Satpal said that an FIR has been registered against Gyanendra Vikram Singh and three other unidentified people on charges of murder in the case. Satpal said that after receiving the post-mortem report, further action will be taken. According to the police, the deceased clerk’s son Sudhir had complained that on March 30, Gyanendra Singh and some home guards had come to his house located in the Lalganj tehsil office premises and assaulted the father.
Sudhir had told in the complaint that first there was an argument and later his father was beaten up with sticks. When Sunil was referred to the Community Health Center and then to the District Hospital after the incident. Sunil died during treatment at the district hospital. In the matter, the DM said that on March 31, the victim Sharma had filed a complaint and demanded action against the SDM.
The victim Sharma said that in the collectorate office, the victim had shown her injury marks to the officials present there. The district magistrate said Sharma’s medical examination was conducted and the chief revenue officer was asked to investigate the matter. Lalganj circle officer Ram Surat Sonkar said that the victim was habitually drunk and his house was with the SDM. He said that neither the victim nor his family had lodged any complaint about the alleged beating before Saturday.
At the same time, Pankaj Srivastava, a member of the Collectorate Employees Union, said that apart from registering the FIR, we demanded the suspension and arrest of the SDM. The District Magistrate has assured to consider all our demands. We have decided to wait for three days and if no action is taken against the SDM, we will hold protests across the state.
