In the year 1999 in Patna, two bodies were found in a garage near a quarter at Fraser Rod. This news spread in the corridors of politics along with the city. The matter was such that the garage of the quarter belonged to a person associated with the ruling government. The dead bodies of a girl and a boy were found here, although the story behind this death was never revealed. Actually, we are talking about the famous Shilpi Jain and Gautam Singh case of Patna.
On July 3, 1999, two dead bodies were found in a Maruti car parked in the garage near Freezer Rod Stable Quarter No 12, Patna. This quarter in Phulwari Sharif area belonged to ruling party RJD MLA Sadhu Yadav, who used to have direct interference in the government. The dead body was found in the garage, which was identified as Shilpi, daughter of a big cloth merchant of the city and Gautam Singh, son of BN Singh, who was close to the RJD.
Both Gautam and Shilpi had been missing since July 2. Then came the news of their bodies being found in the garage of the MLA’s quarters. In this case, even before the arrival of the police, the supporters of the MLA created a lot of ruckus. Along with this, the police, ignoring the evidence in the case, drove the vehicle and took it from the spot. Whereas in such cases the vehicle should be towed so that the fingerprint remains intact as evidence.
In the initial investigation, the police termed it as suicide without viscera report. Then in the viscera report it was told that lethal aluminum salt poison was found in the body of both. There was also a claim in this case that there were shoe marks on the girl’s body, but the police refused to confirm this. In the midst of all this, Gautam was cremated in a hurry without the approval of his family members.
During this it was also said that the incident was carried out on July 2. The case was spoiled by the hands of the police, then under heavy pressure, the CBI started the investigation from September 1999. During investigation, CBI officials asked the MLA for his DNA/blood sample so that it could be matched with Shilpi’s DNA. But the MLA refused to give the sample.
However, Shilpi’s DNA report and forensic report revealed that she was raped by more than one person before she died. However, the identity of the accused involved in the rape was never revealed. At the same time, after four years, the CBI also presented a report in the court and called the case a suicide. Apart from this, the semen stain on the girl’s clothes was attributed to sweat.
After many years in 2006, Shilpi’s brother also tried to get this case opened and investigated but he was kidnapped. Since then no one has raised voice regarding this matter. In such a situation, till today this much talked about case of Bihar remained unresolved and till the last it was termed as suicide.
