There has been a ruckus on a statement made by Sanyam Lodha, advisor to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and MLA. He described himself and other Congress leaders in the assembly as “slaves” of the Gandhi-Nehru family. The video of his statement is also going viral on social media. The matter is during the discussion on the Haridesh Joshi Journalism University Amendment Bill.
During this, Lodha said, “BJP leaders, we accuse us of being slaves of the Gandhi-Nehru family. Yes, we are slaves of the Nehru-Gandhi family and we will be their slaves till our last breath because this country has been built by the Nehru-Gandhi family.”
Other members of the House took a jibe at Sanyam Lodha’s statement. One member said, “Congratulations on your slavery.” Soon there was a commotion in the house. BJP MLA Kalicharan Saraf said that even after so much slavery, Congress did not give you (Lodha) ticket.
Lodha had contested the 2018 assembly elections as an independent candidate and later extended support to the Congress. Recently he was appointed advisor to the CM. Rathod also took a dig at Lodha and said that slaves cannot speak their mind. Later, the assembly passed the Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (Amendment) Bill, 2022 by a voice vote.
Earlier on March 15, Lodha was thrown out of the Rajasthan Assembly with the help of marshals for obstructing Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal’s speech. When the Independent MLA raised the issue of jailing an innocent man for murder, Dhariwal assured him that action would be taken against the policemen if found guilty. However, they continued to raise slogans against the police and Speaker CP Joshi clarified that such uproar cannot be allowed.
