Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister for the second time today at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The new government came with a new face. In this, after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, if anyone’s name remains in the discussion, then it is that of the new Deputy Chief Minister of UP, Brajesh Pathak. He has been made the Deputy Chief Minister in place of Dinesh Sharma, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, he had also been the Law Minister in the previous BJP government.
Political journey of Brajesh Pathak: Brajesh Pathak’s political journey started with the 1989 student union elections of Lucknow University. For the first time in these elections, he was elected the vice-president of the student union, after which he was elected the president of Lucknow University in 1990. After that he joined Congress and contested from Mallawan assembly seat in 2002 on Congress ticket but he lost this seat by just 130 votes.
Then he joined BSP and in 2004 was elected as MP from Unnao Lok Sabha seat on BSP ticket. From here his political career took off and soon he joined Mayawati’s close friends. During this time he became recognized as a big Brahmin leader in the state. After this, Mayawati sent him to the Rajya Sabha in 2009. Where he was in the role of the chief whip of the party. In the Modi wave of 2014, BSP made Brajesh Pathak candidate from Unnao for the second time but during this time he had to face a crushing defeat against BJP candidate Sakshi Maharaj.
The path changed before the election from 2017: Sensing the attitude of the public, Brajesh Pathak joined the BJP on 22 August 2016. BJP nominated him from Lucknow Central Assembly seat and won. In 2019, during the expansion of the Yogi cabinet, giving him important responsibility, he was made Law Minister.
