Yogi Adityanath took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Ekana Stadium on Friday. He has become the Chief Minister of the state for the second time in a row. Yogi Adityanath, who won the Gorakhpur city assembly seat by contesting for the first time, has the image of ‘Angry Young Man’. The story of this image of him begins 28 years ago.
28 years ago in March 1994, some students of MP Inter College of Gorakhnath Temple Trust had an argument with a shopkeeper. These students had gone to buy clothes but there was a dispute with the shopkeeper about something. During this, the shopkeeper pointed a revolver at the students and those boys fled from there. At that time, under the leadership of 22-year-old Yogi Adityanath, around 50 students demonstrated outside the SSP residence in Gorakhpur. This young monk raised his voice against the police.
Everyone was stunned to see the attitude of the young sannyasin and started asking what is the name of this sanyasi. Then someone told that his name is Yogi Adityanath. This incident established Yogi Adityanath as the ‘Angry Young Man’ among the student leaders. Since then the students started coming to Yogi Adityanath with their every little problem. The upper caste student leaders of Gorakhpur University saw the ‘image’ of Mahant Digvijaynath, who was the president of the Hindu Mahasabha in this ‘angry young man’ and after that they started joining him.
Yogi Adityanath was declared his political successor in 1998 by his guru Mahant Avaidyanath. After Mahant Avaidyanath was out of politics, BJP fielded Yogi Adityanath in the Lok Sabha elections from Gorakhpur seat. In 1998, at the age of 26, Yogi Adityanath reached Delhi as the youngest MP to win the Lok Sabha elections. Yogi Adityanath, who was elected a five-time MP from Gorakhpur seat, had resigned from the membership of Parliament in 2017 after becoming the Chief Minister. However, once again, he contested the assembly elections for the first time from Gorakhpur city seat in the 2022 assembly elections and registered a big victory.
