Reliance Industries Solar Giga Factory: Reliance Industries, the country’s most valuable company in terms of market cap, is planning to start its first solar giga-factory in the current financial year 2024-25. The company of India’s richest person Mukesh Ambani is moving towards achieving the target of net-zero carbon emissions from operations by the year 2035.
Plans to start solar PV manufacturing plant by the end of the current financial year
Reliance has said in its annual report that it aims to start the first stage of solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing plant by the end of FY 2024-25 and expand it to 20 GW in a phased manner by 2026. This solar giga-factory of Reliance Industries will manufacture PV modules, cells, wafers and ingots, polysilicon and glass at one place.
Mukesh Ambani’s company will invest 10 billion US dollars in 3 years
The company has also set a target to industrialize sodium-ion cell production at the megawatt level in 2025 and to produce 50 megawatt hour (MWh) of lithium battery cells per year for the first time in 2026. Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Industries announced in 2021 that it would invest US$10 billion over 3 years to build a new fuel business based on 100 gigawatt renewable energy capacity by 2030.
Four giga factories will be set up in Jamnagar, Gujarat
Under this plan, four giga factories are to be set up in Jamnagar, Gujarat to manufacture renewable energy devices, battery storage, fuel cells and hydrogen. Reliance Industries said in its annual report, “We have made significant progress in setting up factories that will be part of our integrated solar PV manufacturing.”
