Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has had a stellar past. He was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL auction at a hefty price of 15.25 crores. At the same time, he also got a chance to play continuously for Team India. Due to the continuous play of Rishabh Pant, he does not get the chance of wicketkeeping. In this regard, Kishan has said that he is not in competition with Pant and both are good friends. At the same time, he was surprised when Mumbai Indians put such a big price in the IPL auction.
With Rishabh Pant in the team, Kishan did not get a chance to keep wickets. In the last match against West Indies, he kept in Pant’s absence. Kishan will now get a full chance to keep wickets in three matches against Sri Lanka. Pant is not playing in the series. They have been given rest. Sanju Samson is back, but it doesn’t look like he will get a chance to play.
Watch movies with Rishabh Pant
In an interview to Times of India, he said on the question related to Pant, “He is a very good friend. Whenever we both are around, we have a lot of fun with each other. Whenever we get time we get together. We just keep watching movies. We also talk a lot about cricket amongst ourselves. I tell him my mind and he does the same.”
Kishan, who hails from Bihar, plays in domestic cricket for Jharkhand. He added, “Not even once did it come to my mind that I want Pant’s place and I can assure you, the same thing has happened to him. Most importantly, when we play cricket, this also happens. Don’t feel like we are competing with each other. When competing with a talented player, it’s fun too.”
Have played ODI and T20 for India
Kishan said that whenever he gets a chance, he tries to show his best game. He loves wicketkeeping and doesn’t shy away from it whenever he gets an opportunity. Kishan scored 88 runs in three ODIs for India and took two catches. During this one half-century has been scored. Talking about T20, he has scored 184 runs in eight matches as well as taking three catches and one stump. Kishan has scored 1453 runs in 61 matches of IPL.
Wanted to go to Mumbai team only
Kishan said about the IPL auction that he knew that the Mumbai team would definitely bid for him. They were not worried about it. When the price started rising that day, his heartbeat had increased. He only liked going to the Mumbai team. Ishan Kishan has won the IPL title twice while in the Mumbai team. He is four years with the team.
