The noose around the CBI, which is investigating the murder of a lady doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, is tightening. The CBI has taken swift action to catch the culprits. 5 doctors have been summoned for questioning. Late in the evening, the CBI took the principal of RG Kar Hospital with them. Meanwhile, 10 people have been arrested in connection with the vandalism at the hospital. Three more people have also been taken into custody. Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association has called for a nationwide strike on Saturday. Let’s know the latest update in the case…
1. CBI took swift action on Thursday. The officers of the investigating agency went to the lady doctor’s house in the morning. Met her parents. Asked who informed her first about the daughter’s death. Learned about her friends. Also asked if she suspected anyone in the hospital. The officers also questioned the former Medical Superintendent-cum-Vice-Principal (MSVP), Principal and the head of the Chest Department.
2.The duty roster of that night has been obtained by the CBI. This will reveal who was on duty that day in the hospital. Who all came. After this, the CBI also summoned four doctors who were batchmates of the junior doctor. Some of them were on duty on the day of the incident. Before this, the CBI interrogated three interns and a house staff for a long time. Later they were released.
3. The CBI has summoned five doctors for questioning. The doctors who have been summoned include suspended MSVP Sanjay Vashishth, head of the Chest Department Arunava Dutta Choudhary, Associate Professor of Forensic Medicine Reena Das, Mouli Banerjee of the Forensic Medicine Department and Apurva Biswas.
4. After the murder of the lady doctor, Mamata government appointed Suhrita Pal as the principal of RG Kar Hospital. But on Thursday, CBI took her with them to CGO Complex. CBI has to question her about the situation after the incident. CBI also reached RG Kar Medical College and inspected the spot there.
5. Kolkata Police arrested 12 people in the attack on RG Kar Hospital and doctors. But the most surprising thing is that even a day after the incident, the hospital has not yet lodged a complaint with the Kolkata Police. The emergency ward of the hospital was destroyed, despite this the hospital administration did not lodge any complaint.
6. On the other hand, doctors in many states of the country including Delhi-NCR have gone on strike again in protest against the incident. On the other hand, the Indian Medical Association has announced a nationwide strike on Saturday. All health services will remain closed across the country from 6 am on August 17. The Delhi Medical Association has also announced to join the strike. On August 15 and 16, all government doctors except emergency services will go on pen-down. So if you are going to a hospital, first check whether there is a strike or not.
7. Strike, rally and demonstration… Protests will be held from Bengal to Delhi today against the Kolkata incident. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will take out a march today at 3 pm demanding punishment and hanging of the accused. BJP will march towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Its workers will block roads throughout the state. SUCI has called for a 12-hour Bengal bandh from morning. CPM has announced to celebrate ‘Dhikkar Diwas’.
8. Bollywood’s anger erupted over the Kolkata brutality. Hrithik Roshan, Genelia D’Souza, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Parineeti Chopra, Alia and many other celebrities expressed their anger on social media. Meanwhile, TMC MP Saket Gokhale retorted, saying- this is BJP’s toolkit. Bollywood is speaking on PM Modi’s instructions.
