RGkar Rape Murder: The case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College has become a big issue. The CBI has taken over the investigation of the case. Despite this, protests are going on across the country against this incident. Opposition parties are attacking the Mamata government. Along with the BJP, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has also condemned this incident. He said that the whole country is shocked by this incident. Despite all this, people’s anger is not subsiding. Protests are continuing across the country including West Bengal.
Doctors’ strike is still going on in many places. Meanwhile, CM Mamata Banerjee lost her temper. Targeting the protesters and opposition parties, she even said, “Will you turn West Bengal into Bangladesh?” She further said that she has set a deadline for the CBI to hang the rapists and murder accused by next Sunday i.e. 25th August.

The Chief Minister further said that we will insist on hanging the accused and completing the investigation by next Sunday. However, Kolkata Police has completed 90 percent of the investigation. I am going to lead a protest march on August 16. I request all mothers and sisters to join it.
Mamata Banerjee accused the opposition CPI(M) and BJP of politicising the incident and trying to incite protests in the state like the student movement in Bangladesh. The Chief Minister appealed to the protesting doctors to abandon their boycott of work and return to work as health services have been badly affected.
He said that we will follow the order of the Calcutta High Court and will fully cooperate with the CBI. We have no problem with the case being handed over to the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), because we want this case to be solved as soon as possible. The High Court transferred the doctor’s rape and murder case from the Kolkata Police to the CBI on Tuesday.
Addressing a program organised by the party on the eve of Independence Day, he said that we have taken all possible action in this matter, but still a malicious campaign is going on. He said that you can abuse me as much as you want, but please do not abuse the state.
