Former Assam Congress chief Ripun Bora, who recently left the Congress and joined Mamta Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, has targeted the Congress fiercely. He said on Tuesday that he changed the party when he was convinced that the Congress could not defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bora said that he would work to create a base for the TMC in Assam.
Actually, Ripun Bora said that the Congress is no longer capable of defeating the BJP. This is the reason why he has joined TMC. He said that ideologically, if I stay with the Congress, I cannot do anything. All my work, ability and effort will be in vain. So I decided that I should join the party that protects the Constitution, a party that can stop the BJP. That’s TMC for me.
Ripun Bora while attacking the BJP said that BJP is a threat to the Constitution, democracy and also the economy of the country. I had hoped that Congress can stop BJP but unfortunately instead of fighting BJP, Congress is fighting infighting in all the states. The TMC leader also insisted that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is best suited to lead the opposition front in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Let us tell you that leaving Congress two days ago, Ripun Bora has written in his resignation that I have been associated with Congress since 1976 from my student life. I have held various positions in the party, but am resigning from the party with a heavy heart. In his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi, he further said that I would like to thank you and the leadership of the Congress for the trust reposed in me.
