DPL 2024: The first season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) is starting today i.e. 17 August at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India’s star batsman Rishabh Pant is also participating in this league, who is a part of the Old Delhi 6 team. Pant believes that this league has brought a big opportunity for those players who want to make their mark in cricket. Pant’s team will face South Delhi Superstars (DPL) in the first match of the season. Apart from Pant, Ishant Sharma is ready to make a splash with his skills in this match. Before this inaugural match, Pant looked very excited about playing in the Delhi Premier League and he spoke openly about the importance of this league.
Big opportunity for young players
Pant said that he is really excited to play in the Delhi Premier League because he believes that this is a great opportunity for those players at the grassroots level who do not get recognition in the IPL. He says that when people see young players playing in these leagues, it will be easier to select them. He hopes that the young players will perform well in this tournament.
Starting from today
The opening match of the Delhi Premier League will be played on Saturday, August 17, from 8:30 pm. Old Delhi 6 has a strong team around explosive wicketkeeper Pant and veteran Ishant. All-rounder Lalit Yadav and batting all-rounder Shivam Sharma are also part of the team. Old Delhi 6 have also included 20-year-old opener and off-spinner Arpit Rana and right-arm fast bowler Prince Yadav in the team. It is worth noting that 40 matches will be played in the first season of the Delhi Premier League, including 33 men’s and 7 women’s matches. All the matches of the league will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The tournament will run from 17 August to 8 September 2024.
