Jaipur. Rain can wreak havoc in Rajasthan on the second Monday of Sawan. In Jaipur, it has been raining since early morning. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for very heavy rain in five districts of western Rajasthan – Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Pali and Nagaur. A yellow alert has been issued for Bikaner, Jalore and Churu in the same area, warning them of heavy rain. Along with this, a warning of heavy rain has also been issued in Ajmer, Sikar and Sirohi districts of eastern Rajasthan.
According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area is formed over south-western Rajasthan today. Due to its effect, moderate to heavy rains may occur in the areas around Jodhpur, Nagaur, Pali and Jalore during the next 24 hours. A deep depression is formed over Madhya Pradesh. It is expected to move towards eastern Rajasthan via northwest in the next 36 hours. Due to its effect, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at some places in some parts of Ajmer and Udaipur divisions and very heavy to extremely heavy rains in some parts of Kota division.

However, it did not rain on Sunday as predicted by the weather department. The weather department had issued a red alert for extremely heavy rain in three districts Kota, Jhalawar and Baran and a yellow alert for heavy rain in 11 other districts on Sunday. It rained in Jodhpur, Barmer, Bundi and other areas but it did not rain as predicted. Jaipur remained sunny throughout the day. But drizzling rain started here early this morning. Meanwhile, many people lost their lives due to drowning and electric shock in rain-related accidents.
