Chandigarh A major accident was averted in the residential area near House No. 1807 in Sector-43, Chandigarh, when a heavy truck with 18 tires, which was loaded with about 35 tons of goods, suddenly collapsed in the road. After this incident, the local people have raised serious questions on the functioning of the administration. This incident raises a question mark on the negligence of the Chandigarh administration and the municipal corporation as to how and why such a heavy vehicle reached the residential area. It is a matter of honor that no pedestrians or other vehicles were present on the road at the time when this accident happened, which averted the loss of a big life and property.
Local resident and councilor Premlata expressed deep concern over the incident and said that if there was any loss of life in this accident, then who would have been responsible for it? He demanded accountability from the administration. This incident has raised many important questions: such as and how such a heavy vehicle entered the residential area? Is the quality of the roads of Chandigarh done periodically? If this accident would have taken a big form, then whose responsibility would have been from the administration, contractor or truck owner?
Local people are demanding intensive investigation into the entire matter and strict action against the culprits, so that such accidents can be prevented in future and road safety can be ensured in residential areas.
