Due to the jam on the Delhi-Haridwar-Nainital highway, many devotees had to return without having darshan of the Lord. The police turned back the four-wheelers before they could reach Rishikesh. Due to Sunday holiday, a large number of people reached Haridwar from Delhi and the highway was jammed due to the crowd of devotees/tourists. The situation became so bad that vehicles crawled on the road for hours. Finally, the police had to control the situation by erecting barricades and turned back the four-wheelers before they could reach Haridwar.
On Sunday, a scene like a bathing festival was seen at Hari Ki Pauri. Huge crowds were seen during Ganga bath and Ganga Aarti. Due to the Chardham Yatra, the city is already crowded with devotees and the situation has worsened due to Sunday holiday.
There is jam on the highway too
On Sunday, queues of vehicles started forming since morning. Most of the vehicles came from Delhi. This led to a jam-like situation inside the city and on the highway. Passengers were troubled in the heat. There was a jam-like situation on the Cheela road going to Rishikesh as well. After this, the police put up barricades near Bhimgoda Barrage and turned back the four-wheelers going to Rishikesh.
Travelers coming from the mountains are also troubled
Vehicles going to Pithoragarh, Almora, Dharchula, Munsiyari and Kumaon were also stuck in the jam for a long time. Many people chose another route to avoid the jam. Due to the change in route, it took them 3-4 hours more. Traders have also become upset due to this jam. Earlier some people used to park their vehicles in front of the shop and do shopping, but now there is no scope. The number of tourists going to the mountains amidst the scorching heat in North India is very high. Due to this, buses are also getting crowded and people are facing problems.
