Amravati. Police in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district on Friday seized Rs 4.76 crore in cash from a private bus carrying it without any valid documents. During routine checking of vehicles at Veeravalli toll plaza in Nallajarla mandal, police found cash worth crores in the luggage under the seat of the bus of a private travel operator.
The bus was going from Vizianagaram to Guntur. The police have also recovered 350 grams of gold along with cash.
The police have detained seven passengers and the driver and cleaner of the bus for questioning. Passengers carrying cash and gold could not produce documents for the same.
On March 24, the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) had seized Rs 1.25 crore in cash from a bus on the border of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
A person going to Rajampeta with cash from Hyderabad has been detained.
At the same checkpost, SEB officials had on March 6 seized gold, silver and cash worth Rs 5 crore from five passengers traveling in a private bus.
SEB recovered 8,250 kg gold, 28.5 kg silver and cash from passengers from Tamil Nadu.
