Russia-Ukraine War: Russia has launched a massive attack on Ukraine for the third time this week. Officials say two Russian bombers fired missiles into the Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine. 9 people including 3 Ukrainian children have been killed in this attack. This has spread panic in the entire city. The attack took place at a station in Dnipro, Ukraine’s main city. President Vladimir Zelensky said after the Russian attack that every city needed adequate air defense. In a separate attack, Ukraine said it shot down a long-range bomber over Russian territory for the first time.
According to Ukraine’s Interior Ministry, Russia targeted private homes in the town of Sinelnikov. A total of 9 people died in this, including two children aged 6 and 8 years. A third child later died in hospital and several other people were reported injured. A five-storey building in the regional capital Dnipro was hit by the attack. Two other people died and 20 were injured. The ministry said that rescue services are ongoing. There is a possibility of more people being present in the debris, whose search is ongoing. There is also a warning that the number of victims may increase.
A maternity hospital also caught fire
A maternity hospital in Ukraine also came under this Russian missile attack. It caught fire after the attack. Ukraine has been pleading with Europe and America for the last several months that it is lacking weapons capable of shooting down Russian missiles and drones. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has spoken of the “critical need for immediate and fresh military assistance to Ukraine.” Earlier this week, Russia’s deadliest attack for some time hit the northern city of Chernihiv, killing 18 people and Dozens were injured, the regional leader said, after three Iskander cruise missiles struck residential buildings near the city center.
