Bombing until ceasefire declaration
Russia-Ukraine may have agreed to open a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians, but no significant progress has been seen on the ground. Russian planes continued to bomb eastern and central Ukraine overnight until a 12-hour ceasefire was announced on Tuesday. In the outskirts of the capital Kyiv, there are rampant attacks.
The Russian Coordination Center for Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine said that at 10 a.m. Moscow time on Tuesday, Russia had imposed a ceasefire so that people could move through safe corridors. Most of these corridors were built to go to Russia via Belarus. However, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations said that humanitarian corridors opened from Kyiv and other cities allow people to go wherever they want.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vareshchuk said the two countries also agreed to evacuate civilians from the eastern Ukrainian city of Sumy. These include foreigners including students from India, China.
It is being told that about half the population of Mariupol alone i.e. two lakh people want to run away from the city. There is a huge shortage of essential medicines in the hospitals there.
America will deploy 500 of its soldiers in neighboring countries of Ukraine
The US has announced on Monday that it will deploy 500 troops to Ukraine’s neighboring NATO countries Poland, Romania, Germany, Greece in Europe. The Pentagon again made it clear in the press conference that the US would not send troops to Ukraine. Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said the new deployment was being made in view of the Ukraine-Russia war. KC-135 refueling aircraft from Washington will leave for Greece with 150 military personnel. In Poland and Romania, 40 soldiers will be stationed from the Air Support Center in Fort Stewart, Georgia. 300 soldiers are being deployed in Germany.
- Russia is occupying only small towns: John Kirby said that Russia did not control the whole of Ukraine in this war. He is fighting outside in Kharkiv. Chernihiv is trying to besiege the city. But it has occupied only small towns.
- Ukrainian brave, hard fight: The Pentagon said that Ukrainians are fighting bravely in this conflict. Russia will have to fight hard. Kirby described Ukrainian President Zelensky as a brave and great leader. With no military help being given to him, he was told that help is being given in other ways.
- Russia is entering the war by recruiting foreign fighters: Kirby alleged that Russia was recruiting fighters from several countries. The Ukrainian army of 1.5 lakh has so far held up. Because of this, Putin started recruiting foreign fighters.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has described Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin as a “beast” whose hunger never goes away. He warned the Western countries that this war will not stop only in Ukraine but will affect the rest of the world as well, but America is capable of stopping this war.
In an interview with ABC World TV channel, Zelensky said, “Everybody thinks we are too far from America or Canada. But it is not so, we are all in the same free zone and you (West) have to protect us when the limits of people’s rights and freedoms are violated. First we have become the target, then you will be in second place because the more that animal eats, the more its hunger will increase.
Reiterating his call to secure Ukraine’s airspace, Zelensky said, “Russia continues to bombard us.” The arrival of missiles, helicopters and war planes is not stopping. The control of the sky is not in our hands. According to Zelensky, he is confident that US President Joe Biden is capable of stopping this war and he can do it.
The Ukrainian President’s remarks about the US come at a time when NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has completely rejected the demand for creating a no-fly zone on the war-torn country. Last Friday, he warned that the move could spark a wider war in Europe.
On Biden’s commitment not to put American troops into combat, Zelensky said, “When missiles are attacking a country’s schools, universities, children’s clinics, and many civilian institutions, there is no option but to shoot them down.” America must save lives.
