After the meeting concluded, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “It was great to meet Foreign Minister Blinken in Tokyo today. Our bilateral agenda is moving forward. There was a wide-ranging discussion on regional and global issues. He further wrote that I am looking forward to attending the meeting of ‘Quad’ Foreign Ministers tomorrow.

What is Quad

Quad is a strong organization of India, Japan, America and Australia. The four countries together established the ‘Quad’ in November 2017, so that a new strategy could be developed to keep the important sea routes in the Indo-Pacific region free from any influence. China claims most of the South China Sea, while the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan also claim this sea area. In such a situation, the Quad has always been a cause of great concern for China. India’s increasing dominance in the Quad can increase China’s problems. (Language)
