However, the match turned around in the last over. Bangladesh needed 11 runs to win in the last six balls. Four runs came off the next two balls. From here, Bangladesh needed just seven runs off four balls. It seemed as if Bangladesh had won this match, but it did not happen.
Keshav Maharaj changed the course of the match. On the third ball, Keshav Maharaj got Zakar Ali 8(9) caught out by Aiden Markram. On the fifth ball, Mahmudullah Riyad 20(27) was also caught out while trying to hit a big shot. Bangladesh needed six runs off the last two balls. They could not make this score. Earlier, while chasing the target, Bangladesh did not have a very good start. The team lost the wicket of Tanjid Hasan at just nine runs. Tauhid Hridoy made a comeback
Tauheed Hridoy brought back the Bangladesh team which was in trouble at one point. Batting at number-5, he scored 37 runs in 34 balls. During this, two fours and as many sixes came from his bat. Mahmudullah Riyad supported him at the other end. There was an important partnership of 44 runs between the two. With the help of which the score reached close to 100 runs. On the difficult pitch of New York, South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. This move backfired on captain Aiden Markram. The African team lost four wickets for just 23 runs. Reeza Hendricks and Tisteron Stubbs could not even open their account. Tanjim Hasan Sakib dismissed three batsmen. Opening batsman Quinton de Kock could score only 18 runs in just 11 balls.
Miller-Klassen saved the honor
After which Henry Klassen and David Miller together took the responsibility of scoring runs. Both somehow took the score beyond 100. In an attempt to score runs quickly in the 18th over when South Africa’s score was 102, Klassen was bowled by Taskin Ahmed. He was out after scoring 46 runs after facing 44 balls.
