National Investigation Agency i.e. NIA has got a new chief. It has been informed in the official statement that Sadanand Vasant Date has taken charge as the new chief of NIA on Sunday. Sadanand has replaced Dinkar Gupta who retired on Sunday. Before becoming the NIA chief, Date was serving as the head of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Maharashtra. Special things about Sadanand Vasant Date
Before becoming NIA chief, Sadanand Vasant was the chief of Maharashtra ATS. He is a 1990 batch Maharashtra cadre officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS). According to the information released by NIA, Date has worked on many important posts in Maharashtra. These include Police Commissioner of Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar, Joint Commissioner (Law and Order) and Joint Commissioner Crime Branch, Mumbai etc.
Honored with President’s Police Medal
Sadanand Vasant Date has already served the Central Government twice. He has served as Deputy Inspector General in CBI and Inspector General in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Date was awarded the President’s Police Medal in 2008 for playing a key role in countering the terrorists who attacked Mumbai in 2008. Date was also awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2007 and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2014.
