The number of cases against women in the country has increased significantly in the last few years. Molestation and other incidents of women keep coming to the fore in the news every day. In such a situation, a 23-year-old youth was acquitted by the special court in Mumbai after the police arrested him in a molestation case.
According to detailed information, the family of the 17-year-old victim had filed a complaint of molestation against the youth in the year 2016 for saying I love you to the teenager. It was also alleged in the complaint that the accused used to constantly stare against his daughter and also threatened her mother. Based on the complaint made by the girl’s family, the Upper Wadala TT Police registered a case against the accused under POCSO.
However, on the basis of all the evidence presented in the court, the court had acquitted him. The court emphasized that in this case the accused had said I love you only once, and not continuously followed the girl. It can also be an expression of his love. Expressing his love once did not in any way disturb the modesty of the teenager. Apart from this, there is no evidence that the accused had threatened the girl child. Due to this, the court had declared the youth innocent.
