New Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal knocked the door of the Supreme Court on Monday in the money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam, but he did not get relief. After this, former Delhi government minister Satendra Jain also reached the Supreme Court but he also did not get relief. Like Kejriwal, Satendra Jain’s side was also presented by Supreme Court Justice Abhishek Manu Singhvi but he could not get relief. Like Kejriwal, Satendra Jain’s bail plea was heard by the Supreme Court’s vacation bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and SVN Bhatti and they have also been asked to wait for the High Court’s decision.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court said on Satyendra Jain’s petition that bail cases should not be postponed unnecessarily. Therefore, a bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and SVN Bhatti has asked the Delhi High Court to decide on the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendra Jain without delay.
The court said that it is needless to say that the bail application should not be unnecessarily adjourned and therefore we hope and pray that the High Court will decide on it the next time the matter is listed. Jain’s lawyer, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, explained how the petition was adjourned for six weeks.
Singhvi said that the six-week adjournment due to holidays was earlier considered that such cases should be disposed of within a week. The court remarked that we will see that the High Court will ensure that the matter is decided (expeditiously). However, it refused to consider Jain’s argument that the case involves an important question of law which should be heard by the Supreme Court. The bench said, why should we order adjournment of your case (before the High Court)? Let the High Court decide and then the Supreme Court can decide.
Let us tell you that the Chief Minister of Delhi had also knocked the door of the Supreme Court on Monday against the decision of the Delhi High Court. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who appeared on his behalf in the Supreme Court, had demanded that the decision of the High Court be stayed. He had said that just as the High Court has stayed the decision of the lower court, you should also stay the decision of the High Court. On which the Supreme Court bench had said that we cannot make the mistake that the High Court has made.
The Supreme Court said that you should wait for a day and come to the Supreme Court after the High Court’s decision. However, the High Court has rejected Kejriwal’s bail plea on Tuesday. Now the Supreme Court will hear Kejriwal’s plea tomorrow i.e. on Wednesday.
