In view of the scorching heat in Jaisalmer district, the Food Safety Department launched a special campaign under the ‘attack on adulteration of pure foods’ across the state. The campaign was led by Food Safety Officer (FSO) Kishanram Kadwasara. During this time the team inspected various establishments, RO plants, ice factories and cold drink vendors and took samples of foods.
During the investigation, the team collected a total of 5 food samples, including packaged drinking water, RO plant water, ice produced in snow factories, cold drinks of various brands and fruit drinks. The team not only collected samples, but also conducted a thorough inspection of institutions cleaning, water quality, staff health certificates and pest control systems. Wherever deficiencies will be found, action will be taken to issue reform notices.
All the samples collected have been sent to the public health laboratory in Jodhpur for testing. After receiving the report, necessary action will be taken as per rules. If a sample is found to be of inferior quality, legal action will be taken against the institute concerned. Food Safety Officer Kishanram Kadwasra said that this special campaign is being carried out keeping in mind the summer season in the entire Rajasthan as per the instructions of the Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner of the State Government. In summer, the demand for ice, cold drinks and drinking water increases, which makes it very important to be strict towards food security.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajendra Kumar Paliwal also informed that under the special summer campaign, intensive inspection campaign is being conducted in the entire district. The objective of this initiative is to provide safe, clean and quality food and drinking water to the general public, so that any type of public health problems can be avoided during the summer season.
FSO Kishanram Kadwasra also informed that this special campaign will continue till May 2. During this period, soft drink vendors, snow -making shops, RO water plants, restaurants and other food installations will be inspected in other areas of the district and action will be taken as per the requirement. The officials have also appealed to the general public to avoid buying suspected quality food and drinking water products and contact the Food Safety Department immediately in case of any complaint.
