According to the report, in the first quarter of 2024, 296.9 million i.e. about 27 crore smartphones have been shipped in the global market.
Samsung made a splash
According to the report of Counterpoint, Samsung has once again achieved the top position in global shipments, leaving Apple behind. The main reason for this growth in the global smartphone market has been the huge demand for smartphones in Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. The highest growth in the first quarter of the year has been seen in Europe. Especially in Central and Eastern Europe, the demand for smartphones has increased compared to last year.
According to the market research firm, the South Korean brand has once again regained its top position. In the last quarter (Q4 2023), Apple had removed Samsung from the top position. Samsung remained number one in all three quarters of 2023. Samsung has once again captured the top position. In the first quarter of the year, the company’s share in the global smartphone market was 20 percent. At the same time, Apple’s market share has reached 17 percent. The company’s shipments have declined 13 percent year-on-year.
Xiaomi showed tremendous growth
Talking about the top-5 smartphone brands, Xiaomi comes after Apple and Samsung. The Chinese company has registered tremendous growth in the first quarter of the year. At present, Xiaomi’s global market share has reached 14 percent, which was only 11 percent in the first quarter of 2023. The company has registered a tremendous growth of 34 percent year-on-year. At the same time, Chinese brands Oppo and Vivo are also at the fourth and fifth positions. Oppo has reached fourth place with 8 percent market share. At the same time, Vivo’s market share has been 7 percent.
There has not been much change in the market share of these two companies from year to year. Talking about global shipments, Transsion Holdings has performed tremendously in Eastern Europe, India, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. All three brands of Transsion – Tecno, Itel and Infinix – have performed well in Eastern Europe. At the same time, a huge decline has been recorded in the sales of Oppo.
